In his garden Tim plants the seed 1 1/4 in. below the ground. After one month the tomato plant has grown a total of 11 1/2 in. How many inches is the plant above the ground

10 1/4 inches. If the seed is planted 1 1/4 (1.25 inches) into the ground and grows a total of 11 1/2 (11.5) inches, all you so is subtract 11.5-1.25=10.25 or 10 1/4 inches.
