Oedipus believes Creon wants to seize his throne

Creon, according to Oedipus, is behind Teiresias' assertions. This is because Creon is his brother-in-law and has a claim to the throne. He foreshadows the play's conclusion by stating that Oedipus will discover his actual identity, go blind, become poor, and so on.
