Why is the scientific method so important in science

The scientific method attempts to minimize the influence of bias or prejudice in the experimenter.

Bias is a disproportionate weight in favor of or against an idea or thing, usually in a way that is closed-minded, prejudicial, or unfair. In science a bias is a systematic error.
