It is important to do your own research because doing so makes you gain knowledge on whatever topic you’re about to discus on…doing your own research give more deeper and more perspective to the topic no matter the complexity

yes, to see if all your own research like the data, calculation, hypothesis, etc. matches the other persons research like the person next to you or from a study or statistics from a few years ago
