In the context, we have to express the given numbers into three significant figures in the form of scientific notation or in the exponential form :

(i). 5590 -----
$5.59 * 10^3$

(ii). 0.000498 -----
$4.98 * 10^(-4)$

(iii) 135000 -----
$1.35 * 10^5$

(iv) 0.000438 -----
$4.38 * 10^(-4)$
