Given:

The polynomial is:

p(x)=x^2-1

To find:

Whether
x=-2 is a zero of the given polynomial or not.

Solution:

If
x=c is a zero of a polynomial, then
f(c)=0.

We have,

p(x)=x^2-1

Putting
x=-2 in the given polynomial.

p(-2)=(-2)^2-1

p(-2)=4-1

p(-2)=3

Since
p(-2)\\eq 0, therefore
x=-2 is not a zero of the given polynomial.
