Lets understand what the question says:-

Mean or average in a list=16

Total sum of observations= x

Equation:-

x/10=16

x=160

If 2 numbers are increased by 5 that means

New sum of observations=160+10=170

Therefore,

New average or new mean=170/10=17

Therefore the average gets increased by 1
