the area is 144.

Split the shape into two. À and B
9 x 9 = 81. The area of shape A is 81.
Set that aside.

14 divided by 2 is 7. That is the height of shape B. the width is 9.
9 x 7 = 63

63 + 81 = 144.

Correct me if I’m wrong.
