Given:

Radius of a cylinder = 2 cm

Height of the cylinder = 10 cm

To find:

The surface area of the cylinder.

Solution:

The total surface area of the cylinder is:

A=2\pi rh+2\pi r^2

Where, r is the radius and h is the height of the cylinder.

Putting
r=2 and
h=10 in the above formula, we get

A=2\pi (2)(10)+2\pi (2)^2

A=40\pi +2\pi (4)

A=40\pi +8\pi

A=48\pi

Therefore, the surface area of the cylinder is
48\pi square cm and its approximate value is 150.8 square cm.
