Why water alone is not sufficient to remove oil spots? Explain!

Problematic fat molecules called triglycerides (oil) do not dissolve in water because of their hydrophobic (water-fearing) nature. The water can push around the oil and make more of a mess. Cooking oil is different then motor oil and require different treatment.
