If we have apps for maps, goggle earth, gis, why do we need to study geography?

Geography is not just learning maps, it a broader concept. Like the kind of vegetation, rocks, minerals etc. found in a specific area and why and how are they formed. How a particular region looked like in the past, why it looks like it does at the present. Weather conditions. Why a particular weather happens at a particular time.
