What is similar between the Olympics during ancient Greece and in modern times? What is different?

The Olympics today compared to the ancient Olympics are similar in some aspects. Both were celebrated every four years, and some of the competitions are the same as nowadays.

There is a big difference regarding woman/females. The difference is that for the ancient Olympics married woman were forbidden to attend, and unmarried woman were able to participate at the Hera festival.
