To ignore past atrocities would be inviting history to repeat itself. It is good to acknowledge and teach about the darker moments in human history to ensure they do not happen again, to show the new generations that what has happened cannot be changed but we can learn from it and ensure a better future for us all by keeping from repeating the same mistakes.
