In solving the following problem for x, how do we get the bases to be the same? 2^x-4= 4​

Answer:

2^x-4=4

add 4 to both sides

2^x=8

8 is equal to 2*2*2 or 2^3

2^x=2^3

The bases are now both 2 and you can find x.
