The 1960s were a decade of social reform and revolution.

The civil rights movement became more prominent in the '60s, and more people were willing to see not only the racial discrimination that was taking part in their society but also gender discrimination, and etc.

The civil rights movement wasn't exclusively for African Americans, it included Native/Indigenous people, Latinos, Asian Americans, gay rights, and so much more.
