why in an ovary, germ cells undergo oogenesis (enter meiosis) during fetal life (before birth). but in a testis, germ cells do not undergo spermatogenesis (do not enter meiosis) until puberty?

Ovary is in the vagina- girl body part. Ovary contains eggs, which then can be fertilized by sperm in order to create a baby. Germ cells enter meiosis as the sperm connects to the egg to fertilize and then create a zygote-> embryo->, etc. Testis is in the penis- boy body part. HOPE THIS HELPS!
