In your own words explain the benefits of the invention of the cotton gin

By the mid-nineteenth century, cotton had been America's most significant export. Since the machine 'combed out' the seeds in this way, leaving only the lint fiber, the time it took to remove cotton seeds from the cotton fiber was greatly reduced.
