R dolls would be independent because that number controls the amount of dolls that you can sell.

R dolls is the independent variable

The independent variable is R dolls because the amount of dolls you have controls how many dolls you can sell. If you sell all of your dolls you can no longer sell and you’ll no longer have dolls. This means R is x (Independent variable) and S is y (Independent variable.
