3(x+1)=11
remove the parenthesis
3x+1=11
move the constant to the right side and change the sign
3x=11-3
subtract
3x=8
divide both sides by 3
x=8/3 or 2 2/3

Answer:

x = 2.66666667

Explanation:

3(x + 1) = 11

We multiply both x and 1 by 3 and get

3x + 3 = 11

Now we subtract 3 from both sides

3x + 3 - 3 = 11 - 3

3x = 8

Now divide both sides by 3

3x/3 = 8/3

x = 2.66666667
