If the square root of the length of the hypotenuse of a right triangle is 2 units, what is the sum of the squares of the length of the two other sides?

hyp^2 = a^2 + b^2

sqrt (hyp) = 2
hyp = 4
hyp^2 = 16 then from above a^2 + b^2 = 16
