What is the greatest common fractor of 8 and 12

The GCF is 4.

The greatest common factor is found out by seeing which largest factor each number has in common. First we have to find the factors, or what we multiply to get the number:
8: 1, 2, 4, 8
12: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 12
As you can see, the largest common factor they have in common is 4.
