They practice making observations because they are making their writings feel more believable and real. They want to make their story feel more real that way it could become a better story in the way it is told. In my opinion, when it a story is more believable you can feel more exciting because it is being based on real things not just toys, things that don't exist, and stuff like that, but as I said that's my opinion.
