The Holocaust was the systematic, state-sponsored persecution and murder of six million Jews by the Nazi regime and its allies and collaborators. The Nazis came to power in Germany in January 1933. They believed that the Germans belonged to a race that was "superior" to all others. They claimed that the Jews belonged to a race that was "inferior" and a threat to the so-called German racial community.

Jews and other targeted groups were, well, targeted. Many tried their best to hide themselves through not celebrating/practicing their religion while others faced the consequences. In the early stages, most targeted groups were harrassed and couldn't sell products. Many consequences in the later stages were severe and led many to be brutally murdered, or sent off to concentration camps(which in most cases also led to death) Some were able to flee persecution by becoming refugees while the others were left to suffer in the "ghettos" (assigned areas of living for persecuted groups) where illness was spread and food/clean water was scarce
