a = (a + b)/(2) h

where a and b are bases and h is height

if you look at the graph we can see that the lines are counting by 2 units

knowing this we want to find the dimensions

the shown trapezoid has the following dimensions

a =2*2 or 4

b=5*2 or 10

h=3*2 or 6

having found this information we then plug it into the formula


a = (4+ 10)/(2) 6 \\ 4 + 10 = 14 \\ (14)/(2) = 7 \\ 7 * 6 = 42

so we can conclude that the area of the trapezoid is 42 square units
