Lawrence found a shirt he liked in the clearance aisle for 15% off the original price. If the original price of the shirt was $35, how much will Lawrence be saving when he buys it?

Answer:

15/100 x 35 = $5.25

Of means multiplication

Always consider a percent as a fraction but it has to be out of 100.

A way to remember that is that the word "cent" means 100. So you multiply the two numbers (divide at the end 21/4 = 5.25)
