The sign shows that any number that is equal to, or more than, 36 is a valid answer. It can't be 3 because 3 x 9 is 27, and 27 is less than 36, so that wouldn't be true. 4 x 9 is 36, and 36 = 36, so that would be true, and obvoiusly all the other numbers that are over 4, when multiplied by 9, will equal more than 36, so they are all correct, except for the 3 and none answers.
