So the first step of this problem is to get y on one side and everything else on the other side

to do so we use inverse operations

so to get rid of the 2x we subtract 2x from each side

we would end up with -4y=5-2x

now want to get rid of the -4 on the y

to do so we would divide each side by -4

we would end up with


y=(1)/(2)x -(4)/(5)

so we can conclude that the slope is 1/2 or .5
