About how many taste buds does the average human tongue have?.

The average human has 10,000 taste buds, which are replaced every two weeks or so. However, when a person matures, some of those taste cells are not replaced. An elderly individual may only have 5,000 taste buds that are active. As a result, certain foods may taste stronger to you than to adults.
