The average of 3 different positive integers a, b and c is 50. If a < b < c and b=30, what is the least possible value of c?

Answer: 91

Solution:

From


(a+b+c)/(3) =50

Therefore, a+b+c = 150

Fromb=30 so, a+c = 120

Because a < b so, a < 30

Because b < c so, c > 30

We want the least possible value of c

so, a needs to be the greatest value possible

Therefore, a = 29

From a+c = 120

Therefore, c = 120-29=91
