Why must DNA be transcribed into RNA

DNA must be transcribed into RNA so that the information to make proteins is accessible for ribosomes and the rest of the corresponding machinery. Also, this way DNA information is better preserved inside the nucleus and is able to compact properly to fit into very tiny cells carrying many DNA molecules (chomosomes) which are also more stable than RNA.
