Producers are food makers using photosynthesis. They are usually plants and sometimes bacteria.

Heterotrophs are organisms that cannot produce their own food so they eat other organisms.

Consumers can be categorized into three: herbivores, omnivores, and carnivores. Herbivores are strictly plant-eater. Carnivores are strictly meat-eaters. Omnivores eat both plants and animals.
