Provided that we know the phenotype of the dominant trait, we can perform a test cross with an organism that has a different condition (since our organims is dominant, the different condition, must recessive). If the offspring has only dominant traits, then we can conclude that our organism is homozyogous dominant. But, if the offspring has individuals with the different trait (recessive), then we can conclude that our organim is heterozygous.
