Answer: (3, 19); x = 3, and y = 19

y = 5x + 4 ------------ equation 1

y = 3x + 10 ----------- equation 2

To find x, equate equation 1 and 2 together

5x + 4 = 3x + 10

Collect the like terms

5x - 3x = 10 - 4

2x = 6

Divide both sides by 2

2x/2 = 6/2

x = 3

To find y, substitute the value of y = 3 into either equation 1 or 2

y = 5x + 4

y = 5(3) + 4

y = 15 + 4

y = 19

Test equation 2

y = 3x + 10

y = 3(3) + 10

y = 9 + 10

y = 19

Hence, x = 3 and y = 19

(3, 19)
