What tool would you use to solve for x?

I personally just put the X on the left side and everything else on the left

For example:

4x-17=965+22

add 22 to 965

4x-17=987

then you add 17 to both sides removing the 17 from the left side

4x=1004

then you divide both sides by 4 leaving the x all by its self

x=251
