There are at least 190 students going on a field trip. Two buses will carry 60 students each.

The rest of the students will ride in vans that fit 8 people each.

How many vans will be necessary?

Answer:

8 vans

Explanation:

Two buses will carry 60 students each, so in total, the buses will carry 120 people. That means that the amount of students travelling in vans is equal to 190-120, which is 70.

To find out how many vans are needed, divide the amount of people by the amount of vans: 70/8=8.75. So 9 vans will be needed (8 vans will be full, one van will be 75% full)

Answer: 9 vans

Explanation:

if we do not include the kids travelling by bus, then-

190-(2x60)=70 kids riding in vans

70/8 = 8 remainder 6

So, rounding off we will get 9 vans.
