A wave is a disturbance that transfers energy from one place to another. A wave transfers energy in the direction that it travels. Waves can travel as a single pulse or as a repeating series. Explain how a wave transfers energy from one place to another

We know that the energy we are talking about here can involve both potential energy and kinetic energy, but in wave mechanical concept, we normally consider only kinetic energy, since a wave profile moves with velocity v towards a certain linear motion (since electromagnetic waves travel in a straight line) with a particle in it of mass m, then the total energy possessed by the particle in wave motion is equal to the energy of the wave, traveling from one point to another
