We are given the following functions:

\begin{gathered} f\mleft(x\mright)=-5x^2+x-2 \\ g\mleft(x\mright)=-3x^2+3x+9 \end{gathered}

we will find their difference.

f(x)-g(x)=-5x^2+x-2-(-3x^2+3x+9)

First, we will change the sign of the terms inside the parenthesis, since it is preceded by a minus sign:

=-5x^2+x-2+3x^2-3x-9

Now we will associate like terms, that is terms that have the same variable elevated to the same exponentÑ
