An example to understand better this principle:

Given a general reaction in equilibrium:

A (g) + B (g) <=> C (g) + D (g) ΔH < 0 (it means an exothermic reaction)

This reaction can be seen as follows:

A (g) + B (g) <=> C (g) + D (g) + energy (exothermic reaction = releases energy)

If the temperature increases or heat is added, the equilibrium will shift to the left because of the principle. (There are many examples)
