Describe the dilation of a line segment by a scale factor of 1/2 centered at the origin.

you just need to multiply the measur of the line by 1/2, so you will get the new value

example

where the red line is the original line and green the dilated line

the original measure was 20, multiply by 1/2 the new value is 10

its centered at the origin so the same distance must be left on each side
