We want to solve the equation:

-6+p=-22

For p.

To make this equation more understandable, we could re-write it as:

p-6=-22

Now, we could add "6" to both sides of the equation as follows:

\begin{gathered} p-6+6=-22+6 \\ p=-16 \end{gathered}

Then, p = -16.
