To find x, we wil simply use the trigonometric ratio:


\cos \theta=\frac{\text{adjacent}}{\text{hypotenuse}}

From the figure,

θ=63 adjacent=23 hypotenuse =x

substitute the values into the formula and solve for x


\cos 63=(23)/(x)

cross-multiply


x\cos 63=23

Divide both-side by cos63


x=(23)/(\cos 63)
x\approx50.7
