Dilation results to enlargement or reduction of the original figure. If the scale factor is greater than 1, it results to enlargement. Recall that perimeter is the distance around the triangle. With a scale factor of 2, the original perimeter would increase twice

Thus, if the original perimeter is 36, the perimeter of the image would be

36 * 2 = 72 inches
