According to the United States Standard Volume, 4 quarts of liquid equals 1 gallon of liquid (or 0.25 gallons equals 1 quart).

Therefore, if the painting used up 1/2 (half) gallon of paint, that means;

\begin{gathered} 1\text{ gallon=4 quarts} \\ (1)/(2)\text{ gallons=2 quarts} \end{gathered}

That simply means the painting of 1/8 of a wall used up 2 quarts of paint. To paint the entire wall therefore, you will need;

\begin{gathered} (1)/(8)\text{ wall=2 quarts} \\ (1)/(8)*8\text{ wall=2 x 8 quarts} \\ 1\text{ wall=16 quarts} \end{gathered}

The calculations shows that the entire wall would require 16 quarts of paint.
