We have to calculate the area of each rectangle using the formula:

A=b* h

where A is the area, b the base, and h the height.

• Jamal's garden: b = 5 and h = 4

A=5*4=20

• Emily's garden: b = 4 and h = 7

A=4*7=28

• Kylie's garden: b = 4 and h = 5

A=4*5=20

Finally, we add all the areas to get the area of all gardens :

A_T=20+28+20=68

Answer: 68ft²
