(\left(x^2-16\right))/(\left(x^2-5x+4\right))

Factor both the numerator and denominator

so,


\begin{gathered} (x^2-16)=(x-4)(x+4) \\ (x^2-5x+4)=(x-4)(x-1) \end{gathered}

So, the expression will be:


(\left(x^2-16\right))/(\left(x^2-5x+4\right))=((x-4)(x+4))/((x-4)(x-1))=(x+4)/(x-1)

So, the answer will be:
