We are going to replace first y= -6 in the equation and then isolate x.

4x - 6 = 10

4x = 10 + 6 Transposing 6 to the other side of the equation

4/4x = 16/4 Dividing by 4 on each side of the equation

x = 4

The solution is x = 4
