A neutralization reaction involves a reaction between an acid and a base.

As an example, HCl (Hydrochloric acid) reacts with NaOH (Sodium hydroxide):

HCl + NaOH => NaCl + H2O

The products obtained are:

NaCl sodium chloride => this is a salt

H2O water
