Given equation is

3(x-4)=18

Dividing both sides by 3, to eliminate 3 from the left side of the equation.

(3(x-4))/(3)=(18)/(3)

x-4=6

Adding 4 both sides to eliminate -4 from the left side of the equation, we get

x-4+4=6+4
x=10

Hence the solution is x=10.
