It was the act of the Parliament of Great Britain setting procedures of governance in the Province of Quebec.
The purpose of it was to grant emancipation for the Catholic, French-speaking settlers of the province. The act repealed the loyalty oath and reinstated French civil law in combination with British criminal law.
