The length and breadth of a land are x m and y m respectively . If perimeter of the land is 420 m, then

90 m

Explanation:

a. Perimeter = 2( length + breadth) 2(x + y)

Answer: Perimeter: 2(x + y) = 420
or 2x + 2y = 420

Using the values given

b.

2x + 2y = 420 (perimeter p= 420)
2(120) + 2y = 420 (length x = 120)
240 + 2y = 420
2y = 420 - 240 = 180 (subtract 240 on both sides)

y = 190/2 = 90 m
